Driving through New Mexico and Carlsbad Caverns

So the first thing you really notice about New Mexico is the landscape.  It has gorgeous deserts and spotted with all kinds of cool plants with really beautiful scenery.  Then you drive a little further through a few towns and you realize how poor New Mexico really is.  It's a state with not much going on for it.  It has a large Native American and Mexican population, so it's not really a surprise that there's so little money in NM's economy.  It's kinda sad, but it gives the state a very unique character.  It's definitely worth a gander, even if you're just passing through.

So not very far past the borders of Texas and New Mexico, there's a state park called Carlsbad Caverns.  It's a huge natural cavern that they built all these walkways in.  It is SO beautiful.  Just seeing how large the cavern is makes you feel like you're really small.

 The mouth of hell.

The whale's mouth (I didn't make that name up)

I just want to point out how hard it actually is to be a lonely tourist.  It is pretty hard to get pictures of yourself with the object of your tourism.  So I tried my hardest to get good shots of me...with...rocks? I guess?  Looking back it seems pretty stupid.  But it was just really frustrating! >: /

As awesome as the caverns were, the view from the top of them were just amazing!
